Little Hunan Restaurant Information

Tucked away in Daly City, just off Mission Street, Little Hunan Restaurant is the kind of spot that feels like a hidden gem. If you're craving authentic Chinese flavors with a touch of warmth and familiarity, this place hits the mark. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the comforting hum of a busy kitchen, and the friendly staff adds a personal touch to the experience. It’s one of those places where you immediately feel at home, no matter if it’s your first time or your hundredth.

The menu here offers a wide variety of dishes, but it’s the Hunan-style options that really shine. Whether you’re in the mood for something spicy or you’re seeking a lighter option, there’s no shortage of delicious choices. One dish you definitely want to try is the Kung Pao Chicken, which comes with perfectly cooked chicken and a savory sauce that’s rich in flavor. It’s got just the right amount of heat without overwhelming your taste buds. If you’re in the mood for something more adventurous, the Spicy Hot Fish is a must-try. This dish is packed with bold flavors and heat, and the fish is tender and perfectly seasoned. It’s not just about the spice, though; it’s about the balance of flavors that makes each bite satisfying.

The portions at Little Hunan are generous, so whether you're dining solo or with a group, you’ll have plenty to share. The fried rice here deserves a mention too; it’s not your standard fried rice. With a mix of fresh ingredients and just the right amount of seasoning, it’s the perfect accompaniment to any of the main dishes. Pair it with one of their flavorful soups, like the hot and sour soup, and you’ve got a meal that’s both comforting and satisfying.

Service is friendly and efficient, and while the restaurant has a relaxed, casual vibe, the food quality is top-notch. The staff makes sure your experience is as pleasant as possible, offering recommendations and making sure you’re never without a refill on your tea. It’s clear that they take pride in the food they serve, and it shows in both the flavors and the presentation.

The location is convenient, and parking is generally available, which is always a plus in Daly City. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch or grabbing dinner after a long day, Little Hunan Restaurant is a solid choice for a satisfying and flavorful meal. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the generous portions, making it a great value for anyone looking for a flavorful, no-frills dining experience.

What People's Say About Place

12/26/2025: Yelp hours are incorrect. They close at 8:30pm, not 9pm. Therefore, I had to order to-go. For Hong Kong style crispy noodles, I like them to be crispy when I eat them. If you ask, the waitress will put the noodles on top of the gravy to retain the crispiness of the noodles in the to-go box. My tomato beef crispy noodles $13 were very good. There's a tangy taste to their tomato gravy mixed with the flavors of the bell peppers, onion and beef. Great wok-hei and perfectly crispy noodles with some charred ends. It was sad to see them mostly empty at 8pm on a Friday night. The people at Little Hunan have been very good to me. Updated review 11/16/2023: Little Hunan has re-opened! They were closed for eight months. As a customer for over 15+ years, I was really happy to see the same people working there. Indoor dining is finally back. When I was here back in July of last year, they were to-go only. The food is still good. I got my usual beef chow fun, combo chow mein and salt and pepper deep fried spare ribs. It was awesome to taste their food again. Original review: Indoor dining has not re-opened. I spoke with the counter lady and they don't plan on doing it anytime soon. Tonight I tried their dinner combo A $32 for two people. It comes with a small wonton soup, egg rolls, sweet & sour pork, broccoli chicken and BBQ pork fried rice. In terms of taste, they usually nail the traditional American/Chinese dishes spot on. They have been there for decades. If there aren't that many people waiting, they are fast on the orders. In the past, I usually order their Hong Kong style pan fried noodles (they put the noodles on top of the sauce so that it doesn't get soggy when you get home), salt pepper spare ribs, salt pepper chicken wings, chow fun and other noodles. Little Hunan is solid.

Went in for a quick lunch while on my wait at the laundromat. Was pleasantly surprised how good the food was, the Bok Choy was heavenly!

Yummy lollipop chicken wings every time! Garlicky with jalapeños. Great Chinese Togo spot.

Their food hits right with me everytime! Shrimp chow mein Mongolian beef and sweet and sour pork is what I tried with perfectly cooked white rice. Thank u for being in Daly City! Park at walgreens for a quick takeout bc they ARE QUICK!!!!

Edited, as of June 2024, they are now back open! Come support them and get the delicious salt and pepper pork chops and salt and pepper wings! As of 4/8/24, appears to be closed (temporarily?). No answer on the phone and nothing posted on their doors except it just says closed. Last year they were closed for a few months and randomly reopened. When I ordered from them after they reopened, I asked the nice lady what happened and she said they were on vacation. Edited, old post below: This is one of the best places to get salt and pepper chicken wings or salt and pepper pork chop in the bay area. They were closed for some time (6 months- year) but they're now back open which is great bc it was one of our goto weekday/weekend rotational restaurants. We usually also get the combination fried rice and other typical dishes and it's always been togo. Highly recommend! I added the menu in my photos since they don't have one online.

I have been eating Little Hunan food since I was Kid, the food is always delicious.

I ordered mongolian beef and a kung pao with rice combo and it was legit great! Leftovers for the day after! Food was quick and smelled so good!

Love the food here! Best Chinese food you will ever get and for cheap too! Atmosphere could use a bit more work, decorated kinda plain and there's no music, just a TV we can't even hear. My biggest complaint is that they close at random times and often for long periods of time and I have no way of knowing unless I call in beforehand to know what time they close that day. If they don't pick up, they're closed.
